Our concept is to work with the lambskin leather and create art pieces for your home.
We would like to experiment and work with different techniques like, laser engraving and cutting, embossing, foiling and flocking and the way they work together to create the most aesthetic impact on the lambskin.
This product would be aimed at tourists, artists, designers and home décor enthusiasts. Aimed at a more sophisticated generation, who are after a modern, contemporary look, however not limited to them. We think this idea would be successful as a unique and alternative approach to leather.
Because it does not have to be durable there is no constraint in the design process and we don’t have to compromise aesthetic, utilising as much of the hide as possible.
As LASRA wants to keep the production New Zealand made we have decided to use NZ inspired imagery such as maps and landscapes as the prints and patterns for our art pieces, giving our customers a little cut of New Zealand.
If our ideas are successful, we can work in collaboration with the other lasra teams and local artists and galleries.
