LASRA featured on Stuff news in July 2013

Stuff has featured LASRA and the progress on their concept to strengthen sheepskin leather enough to replace calf hide. The lightweight sheepskin leather can be processed in a sustainable way increasing it's chance to compete with cow hide in a global market. LASRA has filed a patent on this concept. They also mentions that the government has estimated $125 million per annum from exports will return to our economy.

exploring what items can be made from leather

I quite like the idea of a simple rucksack, but there are many other designs we could look into
the leather covered stool is quite a different approach, could be interesting to look at leather furniture...
I also like the look of painted leather, with embossed designs as seen in the cuff
and the idea of creating an image to go on the leather

leather wine caddy, I like the shapes ou can create with hardened leather

Animated advertisement idea

Trying to find out my own way of contributing to our project, the first idea that came to me was by making a short animation that introduces LASRA and gets people interested in what they do.

I wanted a minimalist aesthetic for this animation to give it a clean, informative look. Also I would likely to be working alone, so I wanted it to be manageable.

Finding Inspirations for making an informative animated advertisement:

The more important shapes can be blocked in
and the less important - just lines.

It would be quite simple to make moving objects with this kind of aesthetic.

Tank could be replaced with a lamb innocently 'baa'-ing on it's way to get processed...
..Probably better not to include that but I'll have a think about it.
